PLATINUM CLUB will tour the new Veterans Memorial and Museum on Wednesday, May 15, at 2:30 p.m., followed by dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Cost is as follows: Adults (18-64), $13.50; Senior’s (65+), $12.00; veterans free. Parking is $5.00 per car (free for veterans). We will carpool to this event. BAKING EVENT - THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE: We will be taking groups of youth and families, if desired, down to the Ronald McDonald House to bake for the residents. This has been a quarterly ongoing service project since March, and the events have been such a success that our youth have asked if this could be placed as an ongoing service project. The youth of St. John XXIII will be volunteering two times every quarter. This gives many the opportunity to volunteer. NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are looking for adults and youth, 6th grade or older. The commitment is only one hour each month, during the 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Masses. This is a very rewarding ministry, you get to play with the children and give their parents the opportunity to attend Mass. Spiritual Adoption

  Spiritual Adoption is praying for an unborn baby every day for nine months. Archbishop Fulton Sheen suggested we pray this prayer; “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.” There are Holy Family prayer cards and models of a 12-week-old baby that you may take from the table in the Gathering Space as a reminder of your commitment. Literature and bumper magnets supporting life are also available on the table.

The weekend of October 13 and 14 the parish celebrated not only our patron Blessed Pope John XXIII’s feast day but also the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the Second Vatican Council. Our Masses had special readings and our Worship and Gathering Spaces were decorated with a Papal theme remembering Pope John XXIII. The yellow and white bunting at the church entrance signaled to all this is an important celebration.
