PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR) Our Parish School of Religion books are here and ready to be picked up, either on the weekend or Tuesday through Friday when the building is open. For families with children who will be in second or eighth grade, we will plan to have a few in-class sessions as part of their particular preparation for the sacraments they will receive. There will only be a few of these sessions, and will meet in the social hall rather than the classroom to assure greater social distance. These classes will be scheduled in the future, and you will receive another letter with more information. The cost of the bo...

BISHOP CALLS FOR DAY OF PRAYER, FASTING ON SEPTEMBER 24 Bishop Robert Brennan is calling for Thursday, September 24, the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, to be a day of prayer and penance for healing and conversion in our community and our nation. “Images of Our Lady of Mercy, in the past known as Our Lady of Ransom, the patronal feast of the Mercedarians, often show Mary gathering people under her mantle,” Bishop Brennan said. “It is Mary that gathers God’s people together to bring them to her Son, to Divine Mercy. In these troubled and uncertain times, this is an important day for us to not only acknow...

Rescheduled Confirmation

Posted on August 31, 2020 in: General Parish News

RESCHEDULED CONFIRMATION St. John XXIII will have two Confirmation Masses, on Saturday, October 24th at 10:00 a.m. and on Saturday, October 31st at 10:00 a.m. We are having two different Masses for a variety of reasons. First, this will help each family to be socially distant, while allowing as many family members to attend as possible. Second, I understand that if we rescheduled a single date, it may not have worked for your family, who obviously plan your calendars out well in advance. Each Mass will be the same, the Ritual Mass for the conferral of Confirmation. Of course, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are unfortu...

INDEFINITE DISPENSATION FROM BISHOP BRENNAN To say these are trying times is kind of an understatement. In conjunction with the other Bishops of Ohio, Bishop Brennan has given us an indefinite dispensation from the obligation of attendance of Sunday Mass due to the continual upswing of the COVID-19 virus. Please take care of yourselves and others. We ask our savior Jesus Christ, as always, to help us through these unprecedented times.

PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR) Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been decided that, at the recommendation of the Diocese, we will not be able to offer in-class instruction as we have in years past. This is for a variety of reasons, both practical and pastoral. The health of all of our parishioners is my highest priority in this matter; due to the size and layout of our classrooms, there would be no way to allow for social distancing. Furthermore, our parish population represents a very diverse number of public school districts, which means each child and volunteer would be coming into indirect contact with a vast numbe...

COVID-19:The Coronavirus, or COVID-19, has played havoc on all of our regularly scheduled Sacramental Celebration of Confirmation. Bishop Brennan had to cancel approximately 60 Confirmations in the diocese in the months of March, April and May. We have not been notified about any rescheduling but will keep everyone posted. Thank you so much for your understanding and patience as we adjust to the new normal. Our office hours until September will be from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Tuesday thru Friday. The diocese has asked us to work from home as much as possible to keep everyone as healthy as possible. We are answering all calls...

God of justice, In Your wisdom, You create all people in Your image, without exception. Through Your goodness, open our eyes to see the dignity, beauty, and worth of every human being. Open our minds to understand that all Your children are brothers and sisters in the same human family. Open our hearts to repent of racist attitudes, behaviors, and speech which demean others. Open our ears to hear the cries of those wounded by racial discrimination, and their passionate appeals for change. Strengthen our resolve to make amends for past injustices and to right the wrongs of history. And fill us with courage that we might see...

Pope Francis’ Prayer to Our Lady O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you,  Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon Himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to...
