Fourth Annual Souper Bowl Open House

  Join us Sunday, February 1, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Canal Winchester COMMUNITY Food Pantry located at 360 West Waterloo. We are in need of Bake Sale items for the “Halftime” Bake Sale. Still looking for a couple more roasters of SOUP, Silent Auction Items and, of course, a Crowd! We invite everyone to come for a free lunch and enjoy a nice afternoon while supporting the Food Pantry.

Scout Sunday

St. John XXIII Women of Catholic Faith

  Our next meeting will be Monday, February 2, at 7:00 p.m. We have many things planned for the next few meetings and are happy to announce that Karen Self will be leading a talk about Spiritual Direction in February. All women of our parish are welcome to join us in Faith, Fellowship and Prayer. We hope to see you there!

Fr. Tony's Retirement

  In early October, Fr. Tony wrote a letter to all parishioners announcing that he was planning to retire this summer, pending Bishop Campbell’s permission. We are now able to announce that Fr. Tony has recently met with the Bishop and that the Bishop’s permission has been granted. The Diocesan Personnel Board will send a mailing to all priests of the diocese on February 1, 2015, listing the parishes which will be open this year. St John XXIII will be included on that list. Respect Life Mass

  Our annual diocesan Respect Life Mass will be held January 22, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral. We join all dioceses in the United States in observing a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on this 42nd year anniversary of Roe v Wade. Following the Mass, there is a rally with speakers in the statehouse sponsored by Greater Columbus Right to Life.

Spiritual Adoption

  Spiritual Adoption is praying for an unborn baby every day for nine months. Archbishop Fulton Sheen suggested we pray this prayer; “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.” There are Holy Family prayer cards and models of a 12-week-old baby that you may take from the table in the Gathering Space as a reminder of your commitment. Literature and bumper magnets supporting life are also available on the table.

First Eucharist Parent Meeting

  All parents/guardians of children in the second grade or older, who have not made their first Holy Communion, are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm. At this meeting, workbooks for the children as well as a family guide for the workbook will be distributed to the parents. Please mark your calendars for this important meeting.
