  The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked that all dioceses in the United States hold a special collection to raise desperately needed funds to assist the recovery following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan. Bishop Campbell has designated the weekend of November 30-December 1, 2013 for this collection. This storm destroyed entire villages and wrecked cities across the Philippines and Vietnam. Advent Concert

  The Faith Formation Commission would like to formally invite all parishioners to join us as we enjoy our annual Advent Concert. This year’s concert will be held on Thursday, December 12th, at 7:00 p.m. The title for the event is “Waiting for The Light” and will be presented by Pope John the XXIII’s very own Parish choir along with ensemble musicians. There will be a social gathering in the lower level with drinks and snacks provided by the Activities Commission. This will be a family friendly event; we encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors as well.

Bethlehem on Broad Volunteer Opportunities

  BETHLEHEM ON BROAD STREET – Bethlehem on Broad is once again counting on our parish to supply turkeys, hams, desserts, and most of all, time. The turkeys, hams, and desserts need to be delivered to Pope John XXIII, on Monday, December 23 by Noon. We will need volunteers to transport the food to the First Congregational Church on Broad Street, next to the Columbus Museum of Art, no later than 1:00 p.m. on the December 23. Cannonization of Pope John XXIII Updates

  As you know this is a very special year for our parish due to the upcoming canonization of our patron Pope John XXIII. We have already celebrated our parish Feast Day, and Bonfire, as well as announced the new name for our entrance signs, which will be “Saint John XXIII Catholic Church” and the wonderful donation of a custom life size sculpture of our patron. Now that the canonization date has been set for April 27, we are able to make plans for other major events. The first is a Movie Night. Actually it is two nights. These were delivered to Birthright and Women’s Care pregnancy counseling centers this week. Thank you also for all the baby bottle donations for Pregnancy Decision Health Centers. Rosary Prayer Leaders Needed for Altercare

  ROSARY PRAYER LEADERS NEEDED FOR ALTERCARE – Do you enjoy praying the Rosary? Do you have 30 minutes on Saturday morning between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m.? If so, consider leading the Rosary for a group of four to six Catholics at the Altercare Rehabilitation Facility on Groveport Road in Groveport. The residents are either permanent residents of Altercare or are transitioning back to a normal life after surgery or illness. The residents look forward to reciting the Rosary on a weekly basis.
