Canal Winchester Human Services

  Again...Canal Winchester Human Services will be the recipient of this Meijer initiative through the end of the year. For every $10.00 card that is purchased, Meijer will match the donation with an additional $10.00, making the donation worth $20.00. On November 13 and 14, they will double the match, turning a $10.00 card purchase into a $30.00 donation. This opportunity is huge for us. Christmas Giving Tree

  The Christian Service and Social Concerns Committees are sponsoring the December “Giving Tree” for needy families in the area. We will be meeting on Tuesday, November 25th at 6:00 p.m. If you can’t make it at 6:00 and still would like to help you can come a little later. We are going to try to do everything in one meeting. We have boxes to wrap, the tree to put up and tags to fill out. We will also have a sign-up sheet for tending the Christmas tree before and after each Mass on November 29/30, December 6/7 and December 13/14. YOUTH MINISTRY FOOD DRIVE

  The High School and Middle School Youth will be holding a Thanksgiving Food Drive the weekends of November 15th/16th and November 22nd/23rd that will benefit the Canal Winchester Food Pantry. The theme of the drive will be Thanksgiving Dinner. Any nonperishable Thanksgiving dinner item would be greatly appreciated. Other nonperishable items that are needed are toilet paper, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc. Youth Group members will be available after all Masses, November 8th/9th and November 15th/16th, with lists of needed items. THANK YOU TO DISHCLOTH CONTRIBUTORS

  THANK YOU to all of the generous parishioners who contributed dishcloths for Thanksgiving for the Saint Francis Center in McArthur. Saint John XXIII contributed 100 dishcloths; with contributions from other parishes and individuals, we anticipate that more than the 500 needed will be ready to distribute to families in Vinton County. Thank you for sharing your time and talent to make these families’ holidays brighter.

MEALS ON WHEELS

  Saint John XXIII Parish has a group of parishioners who distribute Meals On Wheels from LifeCare Alliance each week. The delivery is always done with 2 people. We are in need of several groups of 2 who can either take turns every other week or who can fill in for others that are away for the winter or cannot do it due to unforeseen circumstances.
