COMMUNAL PENANCE SERVICE: The Season of Advent is a time
to prepare for the coming of Christ. We prepare for the final coming at
the end of time and the historical coming 2,016 years ago, but most of
all we prepare our hearts to receive Christ as he comes to us anew at
this particular time and place. This preparation calls us to examine our
conscience, identify our sinfulness, confess these failures, express our
contrition, and to celebrate the forgiveness and love that God has for us.

SJXXIII MUSIC MINISTRY TO PERFORM AT HOLIDAY CONCERT
BENEFIT ON DECEMBER! St. John XXIII Catholic Church’s Music
Ministry (an all-inclusive group that represents our entire music ministry
family of singers and instrumentalists) has been invited to participate in the
annual Holiday Concert to benefit Adopt-A-Family in Canal Winchester.
Each year, the Senior Center board, along with Canal Winchester Human
Services, puts on a holiday concert to help with this cause. Our Music

COMMUNION SERVICE/EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AT ALTERCARE
NEEDED: We are in need of one to two members of the community who
are interested in leading a Communion Service and/or distribution of
Communion to permanent/temporary residents at Altercare Rehabilitation
Center in Canal Winchester. Commitment is for approximately one hour
(depending on number of residents) on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. weekly
or if more than one person volunteers on a scheduled basis. Please

ROSARY LEADERS AT ALTERCARE NEEDED: We are in need of one to
two members from St. John XXIII to lead the rosary on Saturday mornings
at 11:00 a.m. at Altercare Rehabilitation Center in Canal Winchester.
Commitment is for approximately one hour once a month. Please contact

PLATINUM CLUB: The Platinum Club will have its Christmas potluck and
gift exchange on Sunday, December 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the lower level
of the church. The church is providing the meat and we are to take a
side dish or dessert to share with the group. Also, each person is asked
to bring a wrapped gift, appropriate for either a man or woman, not to
exceed $20.00 (no gift cards, please) to take part in the gift exchange. If

OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY CHORUS CHRISTMAS CONCERT
“AND THE ANGELS SANG” St. John XXIII Parish will host the Ohio
Dominican University Chorus again this Advent Season. Under the
direction of Sheila Cafmeyer, this concert features 30 university musicians,
accompanist Doug Hare, and local harpist, Tiffany Envid. This 75-minute
concert of lullabies and songs of praise to the newborn King is sure to lift
your heart and prepare you to receive Him once again. Please join us on

The annual ecumenical Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Canal Winchester/Lithopolis Ministerial Association will be held this year at David’s United Church of Christ, 85 West Columbus Street on Sunday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. There will be fellowship time in the Social Hall after the service. Our annual fund raiser is for the little extra things that we do here at the parish. Previous years provided the benches and flower pots in the piazzas, etc. We appreciate everyone’s participation in our Annual Christmas Raffle and hope that it is a wonderful success. The winning tickets will be drawn after the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, November 20. Just drop off your completed tickets in the basket on the table in the Gathering Space or stop in the parish office to drop them off. We appreciate your support very much.

CHRISTMAS “GIVING TREE” – A reminder for volunteers for the “Giving Tree,” we will be meeting on Tuesday, November 22 at 6:00 p.m. TEENS are welcomed. FIRST RECONCILATION – Preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a wonderful privilege we Catholics have. First Reconciliation for our second grade and older students who have not received this sacrament is very important.
