UPCOMING HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH EVENT – DCYC – MARCH 3 The Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference (DCYC) is a one-day high school conference in the Diocese of Columbus, for youth in grades 9-12. The gathering includes workshops and activities geared towards high schoolers, as well as keynote speakers, Reconciliation, Adoration, praise and worship by Station 14, prayer, parish group time, lunch/dinner and Sunday Mass. LENT: There are three Traditional Lenten observances: 1. Prayer Person at home prepares by reading the Scripture prior to Sunday Mass, in addition to other personal prayers, such as meditation, Rosary, spiritual readings, etc. 2. Fasting The following regulations of fast and abstinence for Catholics provide an opportunity for us to be united with the entire Church in offering this form of prayer: All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. SANDWICH SATURDAY IS SANDWICH FRIDAY THIS MONTH! This month, our Sandwich Saturday is Sandwich Friday on February 23, 2018 at 7:30 p.m., after the Stations of the Cross. The sandwiches are delivered to St. Lawrence Haven in downtown Columbus to feed the homeless. Please take a slip from the board in the Gathering Space for the needed supplies.

PARISH MISSION 2018 PROOFS FOR GOD: Please join us for this year’s Parish Mission titled “Proofs for God,” presented by Father Thomas Blau, OP. The mission will take place Sunday, March 4, 2018, through Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. each night. Father Blau will be looking at the various proofs for God that are common today. Ash Wednesday Collections

ASH WEDNESDAY COLLECTIONS: Proceeds of the Ash Wednesday collection will be contributed to the Joint Organization for Inner-city Needs (J.O.I.N.). J.O.I.N. operates under Catholic Charities of the Columbus Diocese. J.O.I.N. provides emergency assistance to the poor and vulnerable throughout the diocese. This assistance may be in the form of food, life sustaining medications, utilities, infant needs, birth certificates, transportation, eyeglasses, burial assistance, senior needs, referrals, personal care/household items and more.

LENTEN FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Each Friday in Lent, beginning February 16, 2018, we will have Eucharistic Adoration following morning Mass. PLATINUM CLUB: On Wednesday, February 21, at 11:30 a.m., the Platinum Club will have lunch at Shade’s and then, at 1:00 p.m., meet at the studio of Todd Brausch, one of the artists for our church’s beautiful artwork, at 85 N. Walnut Street, Lithopolis. Todd will give a presentation on the kinds of work he does in the studio, including refurbishing old statues, then he will be joined by Jim Gerkin, another of the artists for our church, and together they will discuss the meaning behind the artwork at St. John XXIII Church.
