  CATHOLIC WOMEN’S GROUP – The results are in! In response to last summer’s parish survey, Pope John XXIII Parish is exploring the formation of a women’s group. General objectives will include: faith sharing, increased understanding of Church teaching, service and prayer. Welcome Father Noble

  Father Paul Noble, Diocesan Director for Vocations, will join us for all the Masses at Pope John the XXIII Parish the weekend of April 26 and 27, 2014. Father Noble will speak about the vocation to the priesthood. The work of promoting priestly and religious vocations is the responsibility of all in the Church. We are all invited to welcome Father Noble and to join him in this vital ministry of the Church.

  Would you like to watch the canonization of our patron on TV? Don’t have the right cable station? Can’t stay awake until the wee hours of the night to watch the live broadcast? The Faith Formation Commission will be showing a “tape delayed” broadcast in the lower level of the church on April 27th, at 4:00 p.m. Come celebrate with us! Snacks and beverages will be served and a good time will be had by all.

First Communion Retreat

  The retreat for those making their First Communion will be on May 10, 2014, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast. We ask that parents/ guardians please join their children for a morning of prayer and activity.

  On May 9, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., we will host an adult banquet dinner for our parishioners in honor of our Patron Saint John XXIII. We are only able to seat 250, therefore, we will be giving out tickets beginning next weekend, April 12 and 13 on a first-come, first-served basis. This is one of our major celebrations this year honoring Saint John XXIII. The next one will be the unveiling and dedication of the Bronze Sculpture. Communal Penance Service

  Our Parish will have our Lenten Penance Service on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. We will have several priests available for reconciliation. Please plan now to join us at that time for a joyful celebration of God’s love and mercy. What a beautiful time of year to ask for forgiveness of our sins and celebrate the great Sacrament of Reconciliation.

COLLECTION ON HOLY THURSDAY

  We do not pass the basket on Holy Thursday. The collection of food, rice bowls, loose cash and envelopes are to be brought forward during Mass on Holy Thursday and put in the containers provided. This collection benefits three charities. All food items will go to the Community Pantry, the Rice Bowls will go to the Diocese, and the loose cash will go to the Bloom Township Crisis Fund. Our High School and Junior High Youth Ministry members volunteer to sort and deliver the food to the Food Pantry each year. Please be as generous as possible as many of our brothers and sisters are in need.
