UPCOMING MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH EVENT THE FEST, WICKLIFFE, OH AUGUST 6: Come join us for The FEST, which is located at The Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe, OH. The fun begins at noon. This is a family friendly event and is absolutely FREE! There is music, games, giveaways, and many faith based activities. We will be taking any MS and HS youth that is interested in going. Families are also more than welcome to attend. We can caravan up to the event. The event does conclude with Mass at 8:15 p.m., but we are not planning to attend this portion of the event. I hear it is a very moving experie...

ST. JOHN XXIII WOMEN OF CATHOLIC FAITH: The Women’s Group will begin the weekly Bible Study, Opening Your Heart-a 22- week course divided into two sessions. The first one begins Tuesday September 5 through November 21; the second runs January 9 through March 20, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. This study is open to all women of the parish. Registration forms are in the basket in the Gathering Space, the cost for the book is $45.00. Registration is open beginning this weekend, July 29/30 through August 13, 2017. We look forward to seeing all of our St. John XXIII women.

LITURGICAL MINISTERS: Soon we will be preparing the schedule for Liturgical Ministers for September, October, November and December. If you are considering changing ministries, Mass time, or will not be able to serve due to travel, etc. Please notify the parish office (popejohn@sjxxiiiparish.org or 614-920-1563) so we can make the adjustments in the schedule. HELP NEEDED: We have multiple Peace Lilies, as well as some other plants in the church, that need watering each week, sometimes twice. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: The organizers of this year’s “Hero Central” Vacation Bible School would like to greatly thank everyone who volunteered to make VBS so much fun for the children of St. John XXIII and all the other community churches that were involved. The kids “discovered their strength in God” and had a great time learning about God and how He is our hero with stories, music, crafts, science experiments, and games. SECOND COLLECTION FOR THE SALESIAN MISSIONS: Next weekend, July 29 and 30, we will have a second collection as we welcome Fr. Sean McEwen of the Salesian Missions. Fr. Sean will speak to us about the work that the Salesian do and the history of the Salesian Order. The Salesian Missions collaborates with Salesian Missionaries in over 130 countries throughout the world and helps provide for the material and spiritual needs of poor and abandoned individuals, especially the young. We inform the public in the United States of the global work carried out by the missionaries and of the needs they encounter while serving ...

BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We have reached our goal and beyond. We have 210 Pledges as of July 2 for a total of $60,045.00. We are over the goal. When all pledges are paid, in May 2018, the parish will receive a check for the amount over the goal. Thanks be to God.

Not only that, last weekend, we raised over $1,500.00 for people with developmental disabilities. Charitable works is one of the primary goals of the Knights of Columbus. SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE – It seems as if we have just completed another school year, and we have. However, in order to get the best value for your money, please be on the lookout for retailers preparing for the upcoming school year that begins in six short weeks. Presales often begin in July and items on school supply lists can be purchased at a savings. Please let your friends and neighbors know about any sale you come upon so that we have the most successful School Supply Drive. As soon as the supply lists are on the school websites, we will have copies for the local school districts.
