We have a warm and welcoming group of committed music ministers, who are always willing to learn, grow and welcome new members. We lead music at all weekend liturgies, with varied styles of music at each Mass. The Saturday evening Mass at 5:00 p.m. is celebrated with a trio of singers and a small instrumental ensemble. On Sunday mornings, a choir accompanied by organ/piano, along with a small string and wind ensemble leads the music 9:00 a.m. Mass, and a contemporary sounding instrumental ensemble consisting of 5-6 singers, mandolin, violin, guitars, bass, drums, and piano joins the 11:00 a.m. Mass. All of our music ensembles are looking to grow with new members, and are always open to bringing additional parishioners into any of the ensembles. In addition to the weekly music ministry, we also have a special group of singers who come together for Funeral Mass, and cantors/instrumentalists who are available for weddings. Both of these groups are always open to additional musicians.
Music selections are prayerfully chosen to align with the readings for each liturgy, and remain the same throughout the weekend Masses. This allows for the entire parish to sing when we come together for high holy days of Christmas/Easter, and the celebrations of Confirmation and First Eucharist. We are a fun and loving group of singers, musicians and friends who are a part of our whole church, and love the role we fulfill in our contributions to the liturgical leadership of the parish. Our music is a mixture of traditional, contemporary, ethnic and gospel. Please come and experience all of our Masses, and enjoy the diversity of music styles that are present at each.
Rehearsals for the ensembles are on week nights after dinner. The Instrumental Ensemble rehearses on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. and the Choir rehearses Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m. Each rehearsal usually lasts around two hours, with some extensions as we approach special celebrations. At Christmas and Easter, we welcome additional members to join our ensembles, which allow parishioners to make a shorter term commitment and be a part of the holiday celebrations.
