At Pope John XXII parish, First Penance is celebrated at a special Penance service for our second graders and their families in January.
Parents have a primary role in the sacramental catechesis of their children. They have the gift and the responsibility to nurture a spirit of faith in their children.
In addition to the Parish School of Religion or Catholic school curriculum, parents are expected to work with their child as he or she prepares for this great sacrament.
Materials will be provided to parents to assist them with this awesome task. These materials will be distributed during two parent meetings, one in early summer and the second in early Fall of each year.
